I've been having fun playing around with my camera and thought I'd post a few pics. I've run into a couple classmates who mentioned that it would be fun to keep posting on this blog...so here goes. We went to Leavenworth where we had a great time in the snow. The pic of the girl with the red hat was my attempt at capturing "rim lighting". I've found it is difficult to not overexpose the highlighted parts while keeping the rest of the picture properly exposed. If anyone has any tips, that would be great. Recently, I've been playing around with RAW files, and I've found that I much prefer them when converting a photo to B&W. There is definitely a difference!
You are right about the black and white portraits. They are beautiful. It is great that you are able to take such wonderful portraits of your children and their friends. I have been thinking a lot lately about the value and gift of photographs and one of the things that I appreciate most about them is how they record everyday events and send a sense of time, emotion and place into the future for family members.
