I took this picture because I liked the still water with the reflections of the boats in it. I was looking mainly at the lines, balance, and colors and later realized there is no real focal point in the image, except maybe the wooden house? I also like the colors and the business of all the lines juxtaposed with the stillness of the water.

The wood carvings in the door with the light shining on it first caught my attention. Then I noticed the cool door pulls and the dark shadows behind them. I like all the neat shapes...lines and circles, highlights and shadows.

Another boat image, again with no real focal point. Does that matter? I usually take pictures with a focal point in mind, but since I was only looking at shapes, light, shadows, textures, etc., I later realized there is no focal point... except maybe the larger boat on the left? Hmm, so much to think about. It would have been nice to have a graduated filter for this picture to help with the sky.
